NYU Global Idea Exchange connected students across NYU's global campuses to address one question:

"How would you spark an Urban Rennaissance?"

Through the NYU Global Idea Exchange students collaborated around the prompt using the Open IDEO platform. The top ideas selected and collaborated on were chosen to be incubated during a 4 day trip in Shanghai.

My concept was a community center that addressed three needs for future cities: Entrepreneurship, Empowerment, and Environment.

Features:

  • Rooftop farm

  • Groundfloor retail space for locally-owned businesses - profits would help to subsidize community center activities

  • Classroom and meeting space for communities to learn and organize around issues that matter to them

    • Classes would cover urban farming and business skills

After incubation, the concept had evolved into a community resource center called "NeighborHUB". The HUB would bring together different resources to help communities access opportunities and thrive.
