AmeriCorps NCCC (National Civilian Community Corps) is a national service program for 18-24-year-olds. Each volunteer works in a close-knit team on 4-6 community service projects over a 10 months period.
During my stint in AmeriCorps NCCC, I was based in the Pacific region at the Sacramento, CA campus. With my team, I worked on a range of projects spanning from southern and northern California, Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana. I was also responsible for capturing and reporting on our projects through photos and our end of project videos.
The projects I worked on included:
-
Rebuilding hiking trails in William Heise County Park after suffering damage from wildfires in 2003 - San Diego County, CA
-
Head Start after school programming, senior center programming and VITA Tax Assistance - Sacramento, CA
-
Building houses with homeowners for Eastern Idaho Community Action Partnership - Idaho Falls, ID
